IMPORTANT UPDATE: SUB Payments for PP16

IMPORTANT NOTE

For the weeks:

PP16 – April 7-11, 2025 – payday April 17

PP20 – May 5-9, 2025 – payday May 15

Many may find that their SUB payment for PP16 or PP20 will not get deposited as expected. The Ford Motor Company SUB pay system is programmed to follow the general rules and pattern of Employment Insurance.

EI has a window of 52 weeks (one year) to collect eligible weeks of benefits.

The Ford SUB Pay System follows the same principle and assumes that after 52 weeks from the start of your last waiting period, a new waiting period will need to be applied.

Due to the layoff weeks in 2024, many people started a claim in PP16 or PP20.

This means that the Ford SUB pay system will automatically apply a waiting period and SUB will NOT payout as normal in PP16 or PP20 this year.

As a result, corrections and adjustments will be made accordingly.

Your Local Union and National Representative are acutely aware and understand the struggles a member can face when expected SUB benefit payments are not made for any reason and the financial hardship it can cause.  Which is why we have been in daily active dialogue with the OAC Human Resources and Ford of Canada Labour Affairs, to resolve the issue and process necessary benefit payments.

Today we were able to resolve the issue.

As a result, the OAC Human Resources Department will begin inputting the necessary adjustments to those eligible for payment in PP16.  As this is a manual process and the volume of members affected is large, we will update on the timeline of these payments as we get confirmation from the company.

In solidarity,

Paul Ivey
