Second Important – Service Canada EI Update

Brothers and Sisters,

On June 19, 2024, we updated our members on the issue with EI regarding last day worked vs. last day paid.

If you are a member who received income after the last day worked at OAC on May 3, 2024, you may still be having issues establishing a NEW EI claim.

The Benefit Office continues to be in communication with the company Payroll department and Service Canada to correct this issue with Records of Employment (ROE’s) so our members may receive their regular EI benefit payments.

Thus far, some members have been successful in communicating with Service Canada Agents to get their claims going, unfortunately the internal communication for these Service Canada Officers that we sent out in June was not always looked at by the agents.

We have updated Service Canada with further clarification, since this issue has persisted so long.

If you continue to have issues:

Please call Service Canada at 1-800-206-7218 and request that the EI Service Canada Agent, “please check, your personal internal data message board.”

This message board is to instruct the agents to begin claims and not wait for updated ROE.

When speaking with an EI Service Canada agent, please explain that the Ford Motor Company is in the process of sending an amended ROE.

In Solidarity,

Paul Ivey
