Unifor Campaign to Fix Employment Insurance- Sign Petition

Unifor continues the fight to secure an inclusive, equitable and resilient Employment Insurance (EI) program for workers in Canada through our Fix Employment Insurance campaign. Workers in Ontario continue to be hit the hardest by restructuring, mass layoffs, and workplace closures resulting in an influx of EI claims. With recent changes to the minister responsible for EI, and a Federal Budget being tabled on April 16, Unifor knows it’s imperative that we keep the pressure on the federal government to follow through on their commitment to make permanent reforms.

The Ontario Regional Council (ORC) EI-CPP committee will be hosting a peer-to-peer texting action on Monday, March 18, 2024.  We ask for your assistance in encouraging your membership to do the following:

  1. Visit Unifor’s newly updated Fix Employment Insurance website here and encourage members to sign the petition online, make a call to their local Member of Parliament, or tweet at decision makers; and
  2. Respond back via text to our committee members who will be reaching asking members in Ontario to visit the above website to sign take action!

*An “opt out” option will also be presented for anyone not wanting to engage in the above peer-to-peer texting campaign.

Unifor will not stop until permanent EI reform becomes a reality!

In solidarity,

Samia Hashi
Ontario Regional Director
