Tentative Agreement Reached

A tentative agreement has been reached between Unifor and Ford Motor Company.

This morning at 11:00 am , Unifor National President Jerry Dias announced that a tentative agreement with Ford Canada had been reached. Approximately $1.95 billion in future investment in to the new agreement with the majority of the investment earmarked for the Oakville site.

Brother Dias has deferred comment on the investment from both the Federal and Provincial governments to allow them to make their own announcements as to the investment that they have committed to securing future employment in the Ford chain. This is a major commitment that will have 5 new products allocated to Oakville starting in 2024 and brings at least a decade long commitment. This will be a 3 year deal.

The presentation of the agreement will take place via zoom teleconference call on Sunday September 27, 2020 at 10am. Voting on the agreement will take place from Sunday morning at 11am and end Monday September 28th at 10:59am. Email passwords will be sent out before the end of the week as well as log in details for the zoom meeting. For those who did not participate in the email registration, you will still be able to vote – your password will be in your mailbox this week. Any concerns about NOT receiving your password by Friday September 25, we will inform you how to get in touch with us closer to the date.

Results of the ratification vote will be released upon verification of the results in the afternoon of Monday September 28, 2020
