Brothers & Sisters,

Unifor Local 707 – 45th Oakville Terry Fox Run

Thank You

Dave Millar and I would like to sincerely thank everyone who participated in or donated to the 45th annual Oakville Terry Fox Run. Thanks to your incredible support, our Unifor Local 707 teams have raised over $12,700 for cancer research over the past two years.

Every step we take and every dollar we raise helps move us closer to a world without cancer. Taking action—whether by running, walking, volunteering, or donating—truly makes a difference. It’s through continued community effort and support that we honour Terry’s legacy and help fund the life-saving research that brings hope to millions.

September 16th letter received from the Terry Fox Foundation addressed to the Unifor Local 707 team in the Oakville Terry Fox Run

Dear Mark,

Thank you to Unifor Local 707 for joining us at the 45th Terry Fox Run on Sunday – what an extraordinary day it was for cancer research in Canada. One of the biggest reasons for our success was YOUR amazing team! Congratulations on ranking on our Top 10% Fundraising Teams in Canada! Special thanks to you for your leadership as Team Captain – we are humbled by your teammates’ efforts, and your donors’ generosity.

We raised a record $12 Million at our Community Runs so far, with funds still being raised and more than 10,000 schools about to jump in as well!

When Terry was forced to end his run in 1980, he left us with this poignant message: “All I can say is if there is any way I can get out there and finish it, I will.” He couldn’t finish what he started. But we can, by working together as Canadians who believe in cancer research. Your team fundraising page is still active: https://run.terryfox.ca/team/uniforlocal707, every donation brings us closer to achieving Terry’s goal to end cancer.

The world is a better place today because of you and your Terry Fox Team.

As Terry Fox once said:
Even if I don’t finish, we need others to continue. It’s got to keep going without me.”
Your support ensures that his mission continues.

A special congratulations to Grady Lefebre, who finished the 5 km run first amongst our Unifor Local 707 team, in 26 minutes.

Together, we are making an impact. Thank you again for your commitment and generosity

In Solidarity,

Mark Sciberras

Unifor Local 707 President
