Information webinar on Auto Sector Tariffs- August 15th

The Trump Administration continues its campaign of damaging tariffs on the Canadian auto sector and its related industries. These tariffs are negatively affecting North American auto investment, impacting thousands of jobs on both sides of the border. Last week, the President of the United States signed an Executive Order increasing its tariff on Canadian goods not covered by CUSMA to 35%. This was the latest escalation in an already stressful and tumultuous year for Canadian workers.

Canada’s auto workers are the backbone of Canada’s manufacturing power with a proud history of resilience in response to economic pressures, and of showing strength and solidarity when it matters most. Although the tariff war initiated by the United States against Canada continues to create uncertainty in our workplaces and our communities, we know auto workers are always ready to fight to protect Canadian jobs.

Please join us for a webinar on Friday, August 15 at 11:00 a.m. E.T. to discuss the tariff war and what it means for you, Canada’s auto workers. You’ll hear from members of Unifor’s leadership and research teams, learn more about how our union has been fighting back, and have an opportunity to ask questions.

I understand how exhausting and stressful this irrational, unjustified, and senseless economic war has been on all of us.  Rest assured that our union is committed to fully mobilize and fight to protect your jobs and strengthen Canada’s industries. I’m looking forward to seeing you online and to continuing this important work – together.

In solidarity,

Lana Payne

National President
