Brothers & Sisters,
As indicated earlier and seen below:
Your National and Local Union have challenged the Company’s interpretation and while in negotiations will continue to have ongoing discussions for a resolve.
Message from your Union Benefit Reps
If you are currently in receipt of IMP and remain laid off at this time, you can apply for EI benefit as early as July 11, 2026. Friday, July 10, 2026, will be considered your last day worked/paid. IMP payments are insurable and are considered worked hours in the eyes of Service Canada/EI. So, most of you that have been receiving IMP payments will qualify for EI benefit.
To apply for EI, you can follow the guidelines set forth in the attached EI document. There will be no reference code to use. Simply apply for Regular EI Benefit. Your last day worked/paid will be July 10, 2026. You cannot apply for EI until this week is over. So, Saturday, July 11, 2026, is the earliest you can apply for EI benefit.
Recap for those applying for EI because IMP payment has stopped:
Apply on or after July 11, 2026
There is NO REFERENCE CODE
Last Day worked – July 10, 2026
Do your bi-weekly reports with EI

June 19th 2026– Message to Members regarding the company announcement on (IMP) Income Maintenance plan.
In July 2024, following the announcement of F-Series Super Duty Production and the extended re-tooling timeline at the Oakville Assembly Complex, your National and Local Union negotiated and agreed to Additional Re-tool Extension Provisions designed to provide enhanced income security and support for our members during the prolonged re-tooling period.
As part of that agreement, the parties agreed that:
“Employees who have completed a minimum of one (1) year of seniority and who exhaust their SUB credits during the re-tooling period will be eligible for Income Maintenance Plan (IMP) Benefits. These IMP benefits will continue through the re-tooling period or until September 20, 2026, whichever is sooner.”
The Company recently advised the Union that it considers its commitment regarding IMP and Health Care benefits to have been fulfilled. It is notifying employees who remain on layoff through its Care Site and by letter mail that the last payable week for IMP benefits will commence in the week beginning Monday, July 6, 2026.
Your National and Local Union have challenged the Company’s interpretation and while in negotiations will continue to have ongoing discussions for a resolve.
In Solidarity,
Unifor Local 707 Ford Council
