Brothers and Sisters,

As many of you will have noticed, homelessness is more and more prevalent in our communities and not just bigger cities.

CNOY (Coldest Night of the Year) is a 5km walk where tens of thousands of Canadians step outside the warmth and comfort of home to shine a light of welcome and compassion in their communities. Since 2011, the Coldest Night of the Year has raised over $96,000,000 across Canada in 166 communities – 100% of net proceeds stay local to support our CNOY charity partners.

Last year, our Local took a another step in aiding our communities with our 1st (official) Unifor Local 707 CNOY walk which raised funds to support the homeless in the Burlington, with the outreach program known as “Open Doors”. Collectively we raised a substantial amount to help ensure this outreach program continues.

This year for our 2nd Annual Unifor Local 707 CNOY walk we have chosen to support Food for LifeHalton and Hamilton’s leading food rescue and food security charity that helps redirect a surplus of healthy foods to the communities and people who are in need.

Which is why I ask you to join us making our event even larger, creating a difference for those that live in our communities.

Join us for a fun social walk, some food and refreshments afterward and be part of the change you want to see by doing something for others with friends, family and provide yourself with a good dose of happiness on a cold winters day!

You are welcome to include family and/or friends.  If you cannot join us but would like to make a difference please donate or speak to a Local Business who might be interested in donating to our team!

Our CNOY Walk begins at 4:30 on Friday February 28th at our Unifor Local 707 Union Hall- 475 North Service Rd East, Oakville.

This easy paced walk starts and ends at our local hall.
