EI Reporting

If you have kept your claim open and have continued to report then I am recommending the following action.  In the event that we go out on Strike, you should report that you had returned to full time work as of Monday Sept 18, 2023.

This will effectively close your claim.  Your claim can be re-activated by making a new application if we are laid off in the future.  As always, if you are within a one year benefit period from your last waiting period, you will NOT be required to serve another waiting period.  Your claim would simply restart and continue.  If you are past one  year from your last waiting period then a new waiting period would have to be served.

Closing your claim will ensure no errors are made on your part; no incorrect reporting.  You will avoid any potential payments and overpayments from EI.  You will not have to worry about reporting or forgetting to report or making an error in your report.  It is my recommendation that we all close our claims.  As stated, claims can be re-opened when required.
