Auto Talks 2023 Update #11

Dear Unifor members,

Unifor has not yet reached a tentative agreement with Ford Motor Company. On Monday September 18 at 11:59 p.m., the contract covering all Unifor members at Ford will expire.

Talks have continued to progress since Unifor’s last information session at both master and local tables. However, at this late stage in the negotiations, the union and the company remain far apart.

As the deadline approaches, Unifor members at Ford Motor Company are advised to be prepared for all scenarios, including strike action. All Unifor members are required to report for their regularly scheduled shift unless otherwise directed by union officials.

Your bargaining team will remain in negotiations and continue to work around the clock to reach a tentative agreement that addresses the core priorities set by union members before the current deadline.

The union will provide an update on negotiations tomorrow afternoon, Monday September 18, via autotalks.ca.

All members should continue to monitor autotalks.ca and check your email regularly for official updates from the union on the status of negotiations.

For Unifor members at General Motors and Stellantis, please see our previous update addressing contract extensions. As is standard in Detroit Three negotiations with a target company, contracts for Unifor members at both companies were extended to allow for negotiations to focus on Ford.

Only Ford members will be in a legal strike position as of 11:59 p.m. on Monday.

Please stay turned for more updates as the situation unfolds.

In solidarity,

Lana Payne, National President

John D’Agnolo, Ford Master Bargaining Chair

Jason Gale, GM Master Bargaining Chair

James Stewart, Stellantis Master Bargaining Chair
