Brothers and Sisters:
On Monday March 23, 2020 our plant shutdown due to Covid – 19 over the course of the shutdown our In-Plant Committee, Health and Safety representative, Plant management and National Union have been working tirelessly around the clock to put safety protocols/processes in place to protect every person who enters our facility. During the Week of March 23, 2020, a Departmental Seniority canvass was conducted to do a deep cleaning of each department in the plant.
On Monday May 25, 2020 the A shift will return to work to restart the plant, to prepare for our start up a Plant wide seniority canvass was conducted to do another deep cleaning of the plant for the week of May 18th prior to our members returning. I want to thank our members who volunteered their services to make sure the plant is clean and sanitized for our return.
I also want to mention the outstanding/exceptional work that our Skilled Trades group has been doing in the plant over the past several weeks to make sure that everyone working in this plant is just a little bit safer. We are not naïve, we understand that measures put in place do not stop the spread of Covid – 19 they only minimize the risk, but every precaution put in place is better and safer than none.

Thank you for the endless hours of work, suggestions and ideas that you guys have put in each day over the last 8 to 10 weeks to make sure safety measures are in place to help minimize the risk of Covid-19 infection to our members. Your efforts have not gone unnoticed, but your work is not done yet many more challenges will arise over the next several weeks any our members will be calling on us to assist them in keeping up the fight against Covid -19.
As I stated in previous messages, many changes have been put in place to protect us and help minimize the spread of Covid-19. When putting new processes and practices in place there are always learning curves, changes we will have to get used to, in a different normal. Upon our return if you have any questions, concerns or suggestions please be patient and let us know, as there is always room for improvement. Our members may have ideas that we did not think of and all suggestions will be considered as we meet daily with the company to make changes/improvements to the processes that are in place.
Thanks to Ron Prahin OAC Plant Manger and his team for listening to all our comments, debates and ideas and implementing them into the Ford Playbook. We are in this fight together to keep each other safe. There is only Us against this deadly virus and we must work together to defeat it.
